You can’t deny it so don’t even try. Bridezillas has taken the airwaves by storm for the past 3 years! Even the most timid of us take a peak at this outrageous show every now and then. I know when I was planning my wedding I forced my fiance to watch it with me every Sunday night! His reply; “this better not even be you, so don’t take any pointers from these nuts!”

Even if you are married, in the planning process, or just newly engaged… are you a bridezilla? I want to know if you put everyone through the ringer, or if you are starting to show potential horns. Cast your vote and let all beware!

Okay you tech-savvy brides, this new trend is right up your alley! Move over traditional wedding invitation etiquette and hello technology. For 2010, the new trend trying to push its’ way through is the eRSVP! No longer will you have to burden with your guests sending in small cards announcing whether or not they will be present at your nuptials. Now, all you have to do is create an account at a wedding website and allow your guests to respond online.

An interesting concept, but let’s face it some things are meant to remain traditional… like your wedding invitations. I am not saying you can’t go this route, but if you do, why mess with an entire invitation? Just email your prospective guests the web address and user name so they can RSVP. I am not just blowing smoke here because I am an invitation designer… I’m telling you the truth. Unless you are using an expensive printing process (like letterpress or thermography), a small response card isn’t that expensive. Without printing they run between 15-45 cents, depending on the paper chosen. I guarantee you will be more frustrated trying to create a website than spending an extra 10-20 dollars for RSVP cards. Let’s face it, there will always be the stragglers who won’t respond. If they can’t check “accept” or “decline” and mail it in a pre-paid envelope, they aren’t going to take the time to get online and try to navigate a third party site to RSVP!

So, I have already blogged about the ever popular last season trend of using cupcakes to replace to the traditional wedding cake. Well, in researching our wedding trends for 2010, the experts have denied cupcakes admission to the reception! Security has been notified and they are to be removed if found on the premises. ; )

This is extremely alarming to me! We had great reviews and a ton of “hits” the day we posted our cupcake blog. Really…is it the end? Cupcakes may not be as formal as wedding cakes, but are a great alternative when working with a smaller budget. I really hate to see this trend being demoted. Our trend “experts” have deemed them worthy enough to sit with its’ fellow confections on the dessert tables, but have been stripped of their former beauty queen title and banished from center-stage. Truly a travesty.

Is it the end, or do we dare rebel and make cupcakes queen again for another season? What do think my fellow bloggers….are cupcakes Hot or Not?

I have to admit, I do not like gag cake toppers. While they are traditional, they are ugly and outdated. The little figures of a bride and groom were in no way making an appearance atop my wedding cake! Going this route may be something you really like, but there are more updated, contemporary ways to top your cake. Go for flowers, a fondant bow, or you can even find some cool decorated letters to make a monogram. Just please, leave the little people alone!

I have seen some of the nicest cakes ruined by awful figurine images of a bride and groom. My least favorite toppers, are the bride dragging the groom and the simulation of the bride and groom humping…TACKY people. REALLY not cool! The figurines are funny (I do admit), but use them for your bridal shower or bachelorette party…NOT your wedding cake. If you want the redneck wedding, Walmart special look, then fine. There are plenty of tasteless options to choose from.

I would have been embarrassed for my family to see a tacky display like this at my wedding, but call me crazy and uptight if you will. I am all about sophistication and class when it comes to weddings, and our designs reflect that. Maybe it’s just me, or am I totally out of line?

Just for closure and peace of mind, here are a couple fresh alternatives to the gag wedding cake topper.

More than ever fashion really has made it’s mark on the wedding industry. Over the last decade we have seen more mainstream fashion houses take note how profitable bridal wear can be, and in return we are seeing a more contemporary trend in wedding fashions.

What are we seeing at the shows?

Most current shows are showcasing their gowns without veils, opting for a more minimalistic look. In talking to other brides I’ve come to learn that the veil really isn’t a integral part of their wedding day look.

Though much debate surrounds this issue, no verdict has been established. While the classic veiled look follows an honored tradtion, new trends allow the bride to add her own personal touch to her bridal ensemble.

So let me know and cast you vote….Veiled or unveiled?

As if the term “Engagement” doesn’t freak men out enough, now we have the Mangagement. The wedding industry never ceases to amaze me on their ability to develop some new scheme to generate revenue. The new plot… engagement rings for men. Now you can mark your fiance before you wed. You can tell women to “back off’ with a “mangagement” ring for him, or if he is moving too slow in popping the question, beat him to the punch! This is a phenom that hasn’t quite developed into a true “trend” yet, and hopefully will not reach that magnitude.

Leave it to Hollywood and celebrities to make the first move. It appears Jennifer Hudson just bought her main-squeeze a ring making their “mangagement” as official as the bling he popped for her. Still, the question remains… WHAT THE? Are we as women really that paranoid? If so, get a clue. If you think a ring on his finger before the big day means he’s more committed, then please waste your money ladies. Infidelity will be infidelity, ring or no ring… it’s the man (or woman) that makes that decision!

Oh girls and boys I need your help once again. Is the “mangagement” ring Hot or Not? Please don’t disappoint me because I want to know!!!

Every article I read is telling me that one of the hit trends for wedding fashion in 2010 is going to be the Tea-length dress. While it may have it’s place in wedding attire, I am not so sure it appropriate for any wedding. I love the flirty feel to it, but I’m afraid if a veil and bouquet weren’t such a staple wedding attire accessory one might mistake the bride for a fellow guest.

I’m sure in an outdoor wedding with a casual theme, this style dress would be a show-stopper. Brides, try this style if you are planning a garden party themed wedding or your beach destination wedding. This style may even been seen in the Hamptons for Spring and Summer, but if you are planning a late afternoon or evening event this may not be your best option.

So fellow bloggers my question to you: is the short dress cool for school or has it missed the bus? Please fill me in, I want to know what you think!

Who knew cast members from MTV’s Jersey Shore would be setting a fashion trend “Don’t”, but then need I say again…Jersey! We all know the stereotypes, especially the girls rocking the ’80′s “big hair”, but some clearly hold true to their home state roots. Though the wedding gowns for 2010 are showcasing a more refined look, we can still see in N.Y.C. this past fashion week that the bump may not have run it’s course yet!

It still seems many of the popular gown designers are favoring the bump and horse mane looks for another season. Though eye-catching and edgy, this look may translate well on the runway, but not on our real life blushing brides as they showcase their wedding ensemble down the isle.

When it comes time to pick you wedding hairstyle, be it a traditional “up-do” or long sleek tresses, take heed. If you want a true celebrity inspired “do”, make sure you look to the socialite inspired N.Y.C. salons or the West Coast for Hollywood glam. The vintage look continues to run a close second to this horse-hair inspired phenom leaving many options for your bridal do, like smooth waves and pin-curls. Do what you will brides, but please look in mirror and examine before you commit…this hair will follow you in pictures FOREVER!!

As women, we love everything that sparkles! But when picking jewelry to complete your wedding day ensemble, how much is too much?

The big look we’re seeing for 2010 in the combination of sparkles and pearls. While I am relieved we are moving away from the big bling pendants seen last season, designers are still paying homage to the 20′s and 30′s vintage era. We were seeing multiple strands of jewelry in all different lengths. Chunky bangles of sparkles are adorning cuffs and frills don’t stop at the neckline.

Can our new brides take this look and rock it or should they stick with the minimalist look? Let me know by voting below!

So, we are heading full force into the most busy season in the wedding industry for 2010….Spring and Summer. Believe me, for us vendors frolicking in this field, the winter months are a refuge where we hibernate to gain strength for the onslaught we face in these upcoming months. This has been, in my opinion, one of the hottest trends for 2009. We saw all the celebrities use this idea as well as the “Hamptonites”, and big city “Downtowners”. With the 2010 bride being a “greener” and “thriftier” woman, can this lavish trend sustain? Does “The Lounge” remain lounge-a-licious or has it fallen flat? Ladies and gentleman…your opinion please!
