Tired of sitting like little ducks in a row? We do it every workday, filing in and out of lines, why at weddings? In the Fall 2009 issues of Modern Bride, the editors have come up with a “cushier” alternative. Under the “What’s Modern” section, their spotlight this issue is on ceremonies. If you are tired of the traditional seating plans, then this is “must read” article for you!
The featured picture was taken from a destination wedding planner in San Francisco who decided, along with her couple, to trade in the traditional chivari chairs for oversized ottomans. They then positioned the seating in semi-circular rows for better viewing of the couples nuptials. What a great idea…..comfortable and very chic! I love the draping fabrics on the walls of the tent and the ribbons streaming form the ceiling. White is always a cool choice, but may be distracting if used as the only color. If you have the means and desire this look, you could always trade in the white pillows and use the shades you have chosen as your color theme.
Another featured designer swapped the traditional seating for bails of hay when she planned a couples outdoor wedding. I like this idea as well and it comes out really nice in pictures, but it might not be the best idea for guests who have allergies. An outdoor wedding poses a threat to some seasonal allergy sufferers. Combining that theme with hay might not be your best choice! Definitely feel free to use your imagination while planning your ceremony. If you’re planning a traditional church wedding you may not be able to incorporate these seating alternatives, but you could always incorporate a sleek lounge at your reception for guest to recuperate in between dancing. Get inspiration from your own home décor, it’s your wedding, have fun with it!
