Just because your wedding date is in September doesn’t completely excuse you from a summer season theme, especially if your date falls within the first two weekends! We all know that the beginning of our transition into fall month can be a bear, still forcing us in some climates to keep our air conditioning on. So, if you can’t beat the heat on your big day why not try to quench it with some of these delightful ideas?
I shed a small tear as I took one last flip through the pages of Martha Stewart Weddings’ Summer 2009 issue, only to be inspired with a way brides could use some of these ideas. I remember a wedding my husband and I went to a few years back, first week of September, brutally hot, and it was an outdoor ceremony. We sat sweltering in the mid afternoon sun, thinking how we couldn’t wait to get to the reception where there would be refreshments and A/C. If your fear the same fate for your guests, check out their Good Things section and get inspired by these ideas!
Martha et al has come up with some tasty cool treats to beat the late summer heat. Make a “healthy” ice cream cake by layering a few of your favorite flavors of sorbet and frozen yogurt, just remember to freeze each layer before adding the next! Or take store bought madeleine cookies and sandwich two between tart lemon frozen yogurt. The combination of the buttery cookie and creamy yogurt is sure to please even the most discriminating of guests. Another great alternative was the idea of a soda cart, complete with fizzy fruit drinks and variety of ice creams, sorbet, or frozen yogurts. If you want to save on a bar here is a great alternative. Add sugar free ice cream so every guest can enjoy these wonderful treats! What ways can you think to beat the late summer heat?
