I have to admit, I do not like gag cake toppers. While they are traditional, they are ugly and outdated. The little figures of a bride and groom were in no way making an appearance atop my wedding cake! Going this route may be something you really like, but there are more updated, contemporary ways to top your cake. Go for flowers, a fondant bow, or you can even find some cool decorated letters to make a monogram. Just please, leave the little people alone!
I have seen some of the nicest cakes ruined by awful figurine images of a bride and groom. My least favorite toppers, are the bride dragging the groom and the simulation of the bride and groom humping…TACKY people. REALLY not cool! The figurines are funny (I do admit), but use them for your bridal shower or bachelorette party…NOT your wedding cake. If you want the redneck wedding, Walmart special look, then fine. There are plenty of tasteless options to choose from.
I would have been embarrassed for my family to see a tacky display like this at my wedding, but call me crazy and uptight if you will. I am all about sophistication and class when it comes to weddings, and our designs reflect that. Maybe it’s just me, or am I totally out of line?

I totally agree! And even if people do want to use an authentic vintage cake topper (Jordan of Oh Happy Day posted about her collection of them here: http://jordanferney.blogspot.com/2009/09/vintage-cake-toppers.html ) they are still not pushing each other down, dragging each other, or making out!
My personal rule: If the Bride and Groom atop a cake are doing anything but standing there, and are not from 1970 or earlier, avoid at all costs.
